Gymnasiade 2018, an edition that beats all the records !

More than 58 represented countries, 3000 participants, among whom 2500 athletes, who will compete in 18 different sports. An edition rich in colors, which promises to be very mediatized, with live broadcasts on the event website but also on the Olympic channel and Eurosport.

 

Mr. Youssef Belqasmi; General Secretary of the Department of Education; mark the kick-off of this historic edition, during the inaugural press conference which is kept on Wednesday, May 02nd, 2018. Mr. Secretary evoked in particular the importance of the Moroccan participation. Indeed, this year Morocco hits hard as it will cover all the disciplines, through more than 252 athletes, who will raise proudly the colors of the country.

 

This occasion allows Morocco to join the continuity of its ambitious commitment in the diverse world sports events, in particular the world cup 2026. It is also an opportunity for Africa to shine on the international scene as it is the first time that Gymnasiade takes place on the African ground and more than 20 African countries are represented.

 

” Excellence, respect and friendship. ” will be the watchwords of this 17th edition of Gymnasiade, that’s what has indicated the president of the ISF, Mr. Laurent Petrynka. The central director of the Ministry of National Education; Mr. Mohamed Farid Dadouchi; as well as Mr. Mustapha Azeroual, Director of sports within the Ministry of Youth and Sports, were also present. The latter advocated values of tolerance, exchange and respect, and promise to offer a unique human experience to the young schooled people worldwide.

 

Mr. Petrynka encloses his speech by adding ” The world has made an appointment in Marrakech and Casablanca to get some emotion to people and allow the youth of the world to meet. ”

 

Actually, this day promises to be full of emotions because in the afternoon will take place the inauguration of the village as well as the welcome of the teams by the Minister for Education.
